Abril Preciado
Abril Preciado is an Emmy award-winning bilingual journalist at FOX6 News. Growing up as a first generation Mexican-American in Los Angeles sparked her interest in storytelling. She hopes to empower and leave a positive impact in the community.
She previously worked as a reporter at Univision in Sacramento, California where she earned her first Emmy. During her time in the golden state, she covered the 24-day Farm Workers March, California Wild fires, politics and extensively covered the Latino community in California. Prior to that, she worked at CBS 4 in McAllen, Texas where she covered a series of stories along the U.S.-Mexico border that included the construction of the border wall, family separations, the Zero-Tolerance policy, as well as anchored in Spanish for Azteca America 4.2. She also contributed as a border reporter for CBS Radio News network.
During her time as a journalism student at California State University Northridge, she won herself a fellowship with CBS News in New York where she covered the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in 2016. Abril has a strong passion in helping people and giving the community a voice through her storytelling.
When she is not working, Abril enjoys spending quality time with family and close friends, traveling, dressing up and trying out new places to eat in Milwaukee—she loves food. She also enjoys reading, working out and listening to her favorite podcasts. If you’re lucky enough, you may probably catch her singing her lungs out to a Grupo Frontera or Drake song or dancing to her favorite Peso Pluma song.
If you have a story, feel free to email her at abril.preciado@fox.com.
